About me

Hello, and welcome!
My name is Alex, and I’m a Greek-born, London-based psychiatrist with a passion for exploring the world and capturing its beauty in words and images. Over the past 32 years, I’ve traveled to 37 countries, collecting experiences, flavors, and stories along the way.
As a psychiatrist, I’m a strong advocate for wellbeing and work-life balance—and I try to practice what I preach. For me, that means nourishing both body and mind through travel, healthy eating, creativity, and time spent doing what I love.
Beyond traveling, I find joy in cooking and baking (often inspired by dishes I’ve discovered abroad), listening to music (especially jazz, country, and indie), watching films, and getting lost in crime novels. But above all, what fuels me most is writing—and traveling.
It took me a while to realize, but travel writing isn’t just a hobby or passion—it’s my raison d’être. That’s why I started The Traveling Psychiatrist.
Originally launched as a travel blog, it has since grown to include wellbeing, healthy eating (with recipes), and reading—reflecting both my professional background and my personal passions.
If you’d like to follow my journeys around the world, simply subscribe to The Traveling Psychiatrist. And if you’re curious about how this all began, you can start with my first post: The Traveling Psychiatrist.
Beyond my blog, I have contributed to esteemed publications including The Guardian and, more recently, Go World Travel Magazine.
Warmly,
Alex
(The Traveling Psychiatrist)
P.S. I also love photography—all the travel photos you’ll find here are my own.
